Biography

Dept. Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology, Uppsala University, Sweden Matthew Webster obtained his PhD in human population genetics from Oxford University. He currently leads a research group in evolutionary genomics at Uppsala University, where he has worked since 2001. His research is based on the computational analysis of large-scale genomic datasets in order to understand evolution, population history and genetic signatures of natural and artificial selection. He has worked on a diverse range of species including mammals, birds and insects.
Currently his main focus is on understanding the genetic basis of adaptation to climate and disease in honeybees using genome sequencing.
